Who says poetry doesn't pay? (And even if writing poetry doesn't generate extra cash, its intrinsic value, in terms of enhancing imagination, creativity, self-discipline, and overall learning, is priceless!)
Course Description: Unleash your inner bard and create poetry using writing prompts and exercises designed to let your imagination run wild. Sample traditional poetic forms and works by established poets; dabble in performance poetry; learn about publishing and paying poetry markets; and have fun writing!

About the Instructor
Lynda La Rocca was born in New York City and grew up in northern New Jersey. A former journalist for New Jersey’s Asbury Park Press and a teaching assistant for 18 years in the Spanish-language laboratory at the Timberline Campus of Colorado Mountain College, La Rocca is a freelance writer whose nonfiction articles, essays, stories, and poetry have appeared in numerous regional, national, and international publications. La Rocca is a member of the Shavano Poets’ Society chapter of Columbine Poets Inc., Colorado’s state poetry society, along with the Maine Poets’ Society, and the National Federation of State Poetry Societies, Inc. Since 2004, she has performed throughout Colorado with the River City Nomads, a five-member, performance-poetry troupe. She also presents poetry workshops at various Colorado venues. La Rocca’s poetry books and chapbooks are: In the Shortness of My Days (1993, New Spirit Press, New York); The Stillness Between (2009, Pudding House Publications, Ohio); and Spiral (2012, Liquid Light Press, Colorado). She lives in Twin Lakes with her husband Steve Voynick, their dog Luz, and an ornate box turtle named SunSpot.
